B1

Tell us a bit about your way of studying: Did / do you have any strategy following the course? Which features did you use and appreciate the most? How much time have you invested in the course every week to get where you are now?

Usually I follow the course two times a week (about three hours a week). I appreciate lessons and Grammatik Karten the most, but every part of this course is so well done and useful.

How has your life changed since you joined German to Go?

I studied German at school about twenty years ago and it was one of my favourite subjects. Then I did something else in my life (I'm a medical doctor and always worked in Italy), and I stopped practicing German. In these last years I met some Austrians on vacation and I realized that I wasn't able to speak at all, even tough I still remebered some of the basis. So I thought it was such a pity and maybe I could start learning German again. I found German to Go by chance. After a couple of years I can say this course has helped me a lot. This year I was able to talk to and to understand my Austrian friends again :)

What is your favorite memory or most rewarding moment so far while using your German skills?

When I was in school, to pass the Zertifikat Deutsch I guess. Nowadays, to be able to have an easy conversation in German again I think.

Do you have a favorite German word or phrase? If so, what is it and why?

I always liked the word "heiter". I liked the sound of it, when pronounced by my German teacher in school.

If you could offer one piece of advice to a new German language learner, what would it be?

At the beginning it's hard. When I started learning German I had the feeling, that I couldn't build even the simplest sentence by myself: too many things to remember (genders, cases, declensions...). But don't give up: with a bit of persistence and motivation it'll improve.
