Ulm liegt genau an der Grenze zwischen Bayern und Baden-Württemberg und direkt an der Donau. Du weißt vielleicht, dass die Donau der längste Fluss Europas ist. Aber das ist nicht der einzige Rekord. In Ulm steht nämlich das Ulmer Münster mit dem höchsten Kirchturm der ganzen Welt. Steige unbedingt hinauf und genieße die Aussicht. An schönen Tagen kannst du sogar die Alpen sehen.
Wir haben vorhin von der Donau gesprochen. Am vorletzten Montag im Juli ist in Ulm Schwörmontag. An diesem Tag sind Tausende von Booten auf der Donau unterwegs. Damit wird gefeiert, dass seit dem 14. Jahrhundert die Stadt demokratisch regiert wird.
Wenn du an Ulm denkst, denkst du vielleicht an Albert Einstein, dem berühmten Wissenschaftler. Er stammt aus Ulm und die Ulmer sind sehr stolz auf ihn.
In der ganzen Stadt findest du Figuren eines Vogels. Das ist der Ulmer Spatz. Ein Spatz hat den Ulmern nämlich geholfen, das Münster zu bauen. Die Ulmer wollten Baumstämme quer durch das Stadttor transportieren, das hat aber nicht funktioniert. Sie haben dann beobachtet, wie ein Spatz Stroh längs transportierte. Sie machten es mit den Baumstämmen genauso und mussten das Stadttor nicht einreißen. Und seitdem gibt es den Ulmer Spatz.

Earlier we talked about the Danube. The second to last Monday in July is Schwörmontag in Ulm. On this day, thousands of boats are on the Danube. This festival celebrates the fact that since the 14th century, the city has been governed democratically.
When you think of Ulm, you may think of Albert Einstein, the famous scientist. He was from Ulm and the people of Ulm are very proud of him.
All over the city you will find images of a bird. This is the sparrow of Ulm. A sparrow helped the people of Ulm to build the cathedral. The residents wanted to transport tree trunks across the city gate, but that didn't work. They then observed how a sparrow transported straw lengthwise. They did the same with the tree trunks and did not have to tear down the city gate. Since then, we have had the Ulm sparrow.
