Viele Städte in Deutschland liegen an Flüssen. München liegt an der Isar, Köln am Rhein, Frankfurt am Main. Und Paderborn? Paderborn liegt an der Pader. Dieser Fluss hält sogar einen Rekord. Tatsächlich ist die Pader der kürzeste Fluss von Deutschland und nur vier Kilometer lang.
Das ist aber nicht der einzige Rekord. Le Mans in Frankreich ist die Partnerstadt von Paderborn. Warum sollte das ein Rekord sein? Die meisten deutschen Städte haben Partnerschaften. Aber … die Partnerschaft zwischen Le Mans und Paderborn war die erste überhaupt! Sie besteht schon seit dem Jahr 836 und ist damit älter als der Dom in Paderborn.

But that's not the only record. Le Mans in France is the twin city of Paderborn. Why would that be a record? Most German cities are twinned. But the partnership between Le Mans and Paderborn was the first ever twinning! It dates back to the year 836 and is therefore even older than the Paderborn Cathedral.
