Biertrinkern glänzen die Augen, wenn sie den Namen der Stadt Bamberg hören, denn aus dieser Stadt in Bayern stammt das berühmte Rauchbier. Aber nicht nur das: Auch für zweierlei Bamberger Hörnchen ist Bamberg berühmt: einmal sind sie eine Art Croissant und einmal Kartoffeln mit einer ganz besonderen Form.
Es wundert dich nicht, dass es in Bamberg ein Biermuseum gibt. Dort kannst du bis in einen antiken Bierkeller hinabsteigen. Dort unten ist es ganz schön kalt, nur sechs Grad!
Bevor du noch mehr frierst, solltest du dir noch Klein-Venedig, die alten Bamberger Fischerhäuser, und das Alte Rathaus anschauen. Warum steht es auf einer künstlichen Insel im Fluss? Weder der Bürgermeister noch die Kirche wollten es bei sich stehen haben. Also haben die schlauen Bamberger eine künstliche Insel aufgeschüttet und das Rathaus darauf gebaut. Und schon war das Problem gelöst.

On top of that, Bamberg is also famous for two types of Bamberg ‘hörnchen’: one is a pastry similar to a croissant and the other is a variety of potato which grows in a very distinctive horn shape.
You won't be surprised to learn that Bamberg has a beer museum where you can go down to an ancient beer cellar. It's pretty cold down there - only six degrees!
Before you freeze in the cellar, you should take a look at Little Venice, the historic Bamberg fishermen's houses, and the Old Town Hall. Why is the Old Town Hall on a man-made island in the river? Neither the mayor nor the church wanted it built on their sides of the river, so the clever people of Bamberg created an artificial island and built the town hall on it - problem solved!
